An update on the new city hall is on tonight's Windsor city council agenda.
The $32-million building is going up right next door to the current city hall.
Ward One councillor Fred Francis says work is going smoothly. "The project is on budget and we're either on the time frames or we're just ahead of the time frames. So probably within another year, the project will be completed."
Along with the St. Clair College and University of Windsor campuses, Francis sees the new city hall as part of an overall revitalization of the downtown core. "This council is obviously committed to the downtown core and doing what we can to create an environment that attracts more businesses, investors, more residents, and more people that want to live downtown, work downtown, and obviously play downtown."
The five-story building includes a number of green features along with a large atrium, council chamber and artistic lighting.
