A new authentic Italian bistro has opened in the heart of the city.
Serratore Bistro-Café held its grand opening in downtown Windsor on Thursday, with Mayor Drew Dilkens and Ward 3 Councillor elect Renaldo Agostino in attendance alongside owner Jason Serratore.
The café promises a rich, authentic Italian bistro experience serving hot and iced drinks, salads, paninis, charcuterie, as well as pastries and baked goods.
Serratore says it's been go-go-go since officially cutting the ribbon.
"I've always loved the cafe feel. I've worked in many cafes in my life, and there's just something about a cafe that feels right and warm."

Much has been said about Windsor's downtown this past year, but Serratore says the area is rich with history and a good place to do business.
"From what I gather the block was once a hub of restaurants, and cafes, and different bars," he continued. "I'd like to be part of bringing that back, and bringing people back downtown, because it really is a beautiful place."
He says there was zero hesitancy to jump into the downtown market.
"As soon as I saw the place I fell in love with it. And as soon as I saw downtown Windsor, it's clean, it's beautiful and it's right by the river. I can't describe to you how the people here in Windsor have welcomed me downtown and have treated me every since I've been here," Serratore said.
Agostino says as someone who remembers when the block and surrounding area were really humming years back it's great to see more businesses opening in the downtown.
"And to see it now get reborn as something else as a businessman and as a person who loves downtown is amazing," he continued. "But as a councillor, and as now a part of the conversation of what's happening down here, it's just another amazing thing to happen in downtown Windsor."
Serratore Bistro-Café is located at 98 University Avenue West.
