There will be a new addition at Erie Shores Hospice, thanks to a Leamington couple.
Retired couple Don and Kathy Mastronardi will be donating the funds to build a 4,500 sq. ft. facility, in memory of their parents.
The building will act like a welcome centre and will be used for day programs and provide training for volunteers.
Hospice Executive Director Carol Derbyshire says even though a dollar amount has not been determined, the Mastronardis' said they would cover the cost.
"It is just a wonderful gift and they like all the planning we have done," says Derbyshire. "So they have committed to this whole project."
She says the plan for the addition has been in the works for some time, but now it will become a reality with the donation.
Derbyshire expects the work could begin this winter and it is possible the building would be up and operational in late spring or summer of 2018.
The Erie Shores Hospice Campus is a 10-bed residential home and the first satellite location opened in Canada.
