A wall breaking ceremony to mark construction of the new library at the Optimist Community Centre.
The $2.5-million branch will open this fall and will include an automotive archive containing nearly 5,000 items.
"Original design sketches dating back to the 1930s, a huge collection of shop manuals and dealer brochures and things like that," says library board Chair Peter Frise. "But this is also the community general library for this part of the city."
Construction is well underway on the 6,500 sq. ft. library which is attached to the current community centre on Ypres Ave.
He says it was a great location for a new branch as the land and community centre are all owned by the city.

Mayor Drew Dilkens says it is part of an $8-million investment into city libraries which includes the new John Muir library in Sandwich Towne and an expansion of the Budimir library.
There are currently 92,000 Windsor Public library card holders which is up 10% in the past 12-18 months.
