The next show will be the last winter showcase

A change in date for the North American International Auto Show.

The upcoming show in January 2019 will be the final wintertime showcase at Cobo Center.

It has been announced that in 2020, the event will move to the week of June 8th.

Organizers are promising concerts, speakers, outdoor product exhibits, and more.

The actual auto show will remain at Cobo Center, with other events being held throughout the downtown area.

Transit Windsor Executive Director Pat Delmore says June is already the busiest month for transit with fireworks, the Grand Prix and other sporting and entertainment events.

He says transit is following the move and will continue to talk to officials in Detroit.

"Some of the things we're already hearing is that there will be a number of street closures in Detroit as well," says Delmore.  "So that has an impact on our drop off and pick up locations as well as our regular tunnel bus service."

In past years, Transit Windsor had offered an auto show package that includes a round trip transit ticket and a ticket to the show for $25 Canadian.

In 2016 and 2017, there were 6000 round trips to the auto show.
