John Wayne Pierre is on trial charged with seconddegree murder

The neighbour of a Windsor woman who was killed almost two years ago has testified at the murder trial.

John Wayne Pierre, 49, is on trial charged with second-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend Lesley Watterworth.

The 42-year-old Watterworth had been beaten and stabbed at her Curry Ave. apartment on November 1, 2016.

A neighbour testified he heard a woman 'screaming that had a pain to it.'

He assumed it to be Lesley Watterworth.

He went outside and spoke to another neighbour, but admitted he didn't call 9-11.

"He didn't suspect it to be so serious," he testified.

The trial is slated to last three weeks.
