A Windsor manufacturer is helping out the University of Windsor.
Windsor Mold Group has made a 'significant' donation to the Faculty of Engineering, the EPICentre and Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
Company President Keith Henry won't say how much the gift is worth, only saying it is 'six figures plus'.
The money will be used to help fourth year engineering students in their final year project, at the EPICentre the money will be used for the 'makerspace' initiative and over at the faculty of arts, its portion will help in the development of the downtown campus.
Henry says the money to the faculty of engineering will help 50 fourth year students on an annual basis.
"The endowment fund that have set up will provide financial support to the students so they can spend more time, creating and learning and less time fundraising and that sort of thing."
He says the investment helps the next generation of innovators.
"Satisfaction that we are giving back to the university, that we are giving back to the commuity and that we are helping students who are really our future, to succeed."
Interim President Douglas Kneale says the investment by the company is 'visionary and long-lasting.'
"This example of multi-disciplinary cross-faculty giving, and pardon the pun, breaks the mould."
The Windsor Mold Group includes two injection mold making facilities in Canada and the United States, and seven plastics component manufacturing facilities in Canada, the United States and Mexico employing 1,500 people.
