The Windsor mother of a 19-year old girl with special needs who was bullied hopes the incident has raised public awareness.
She says her daughter is doing fine but is more concerned over the well-being of the perpetrators who are now being threatened by people who saw the video on social media.
The mother didn't want her name made public but she says her daughter is getting a lot of support
"The heart my daughter has is that her concern is that she feels bad now for the other people, what they are going through because of what she is going through because of all the social media," she says.
She was also extremely upset wondering why drivers who witnessed the assault Tuesday night at Wyandotte and Pillette didn't stop to help her daughter.
"I don't understand why nobody stopped. If I was driving by and saw something like that, I would stop and do something because violence is not the answer. We live in Canada so we don't have guns here so it is not like you are going to get shot."
She started to watch the video that has been circulating on social media but couldn't finish it saying it was too disturbing to see her daughter treated that way.
She says she raised her daughter not to be aggressive and to be "hands off."
