There's a slightly less than 50-50 chance Windsor-Essex is going to see a white Christmas.
The region saw its first flurries overnight but it did not accumulate or stick to the ground.
Speaking on AM800's the Morning Drive, Environment Canada Meteorologist Mark Schuster says of the last 20 Christmases, eight were white.
A white Christmas means there is at least 2cm of snow on the ground.
"The last time there was a white Christmas in Windsor-Essex was in 2010," says Schuster.
He says it has been more than a decade since Windsor-Essex was pounded with snow on December 25th
"You have to go all the way back to 2002 to get that really nice white Christmas, where heavy snow was falling all night and early in the morning, that's the kind of white Christmas that people think of."
He says it is still too early to predict whether Windsor-Essex will get a white Christmas but for the next week or two, the forecast is calling for colder than normal temperatures.
Last December (2015), Windsor-Essex didn't receive any snowfall.
