Morrissey Signs With Winnipeg

Josh Morrissey agrees to a new twoyear deal with the Jets

Josh Morrissey, a restricted free agent, has agreed to a to a two-year, $6.3-million U.S.contract. with Winnipeg.

The new deal for the 23-year-old defenceman will carry an average annual value of $3.15-million. 

Morrissey missed the opening of Jets training camp while waiting on a new deal.

On the nice tonight, there are three NHL exhibition games in Canada.

Montreal hosts a New Jersey Devils split squad while Minnesota is in Winnipeg to face the Jets.

The Calgary Flames are home to the Edmonton Oilers.

In news off the ice, Aleksander Barkov has been named the new captain of the Florida Panthers.

He replaces forward Derek MacKenzie, who held the role for the last two seasons but has indicated this could be his final year as a player.

Barkov, 23, is entering his sixth NHL campaign.
