Drink more water and eat more plant-based protein are the main changes in Canada's new food guide.
Health Canada is taking a new approach with a focus on eating healthier and lifestyle choices, instead of serving sizes and specific food groups.
In fact, it is eliminating the different food groups and portion sizes.
It recommends Canadians eat vegetables, fruits and whole grains and choose legumes, nuts and tofu more regularly and limit processed and prepared food high in sugar and salt.
It also notes the health risks of consuming alcohol.
The new guide has already prompted concerns among dairy and beef farmers worried about their livelihoods.
