U.S. Customs and Border Protection says more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana has been seized from a commercial truck at the Canada-U.S. border in Detroit.
The agency says a truck driven by a Canadian citizen was pulled in for secondary inspection Sunday when officers became suspicious of the cargo.
The driver presented a manifest for steel wire that was headed for Chicago, but officers found more than a half-ton of pot in vacuum-sealed packages hidden in five wooden crates.
U.S Customs says officers have seized more than 5,500 pounds of marijuana at border crossings across Michigan since March.
