The University of Windsor continues to see a growth in enrolment.
On Tuesday, the university's Board of Directors saw updated enrolment numbers that will be sent to the provincial government.
Interim President Douglas Kneale says as of November 1st, approximately 16,321 students are attending the university for the fall semester.
He credits the staff along with researchers and programs the university offers.
Kneale says the enrolment increase is a great success story for the university.
"We have almost record number of students this year approximately 16,321," says Kneale. "So we're delighted by the efforts of our recruitment team, getting out there into the high schools and in the communities, working at open houses and so on to attract students to the University of Windsor."
He adds the university continues to attract students from the area along with students from across the province and world.
"We draw many of them from our local catchment area, the tri-county area about 68 to 70 percent of our first year intake is from there but increasingly students from the GA and internationally are beating a path to the University of Windsor so it's a great story," says Kneale.
In previous years, enrolment averaged about 15,500 students.
The university has to report its enrolment figures to the provincial government by December 1st for funding purposes.
