For the third time in two weeks, the Windsor Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) is reporting high rates of drug-related emergency department (ED) Visits.
On November 14th alone, 10 cases were flagged with two described as opioid-related, one was unknown but believed to be opioid-related, and one described multiple substances consumed.
Of note, one of the cases resulted from an individual consuming something they described as a "purple substance."
Methamphetamine was also involved in at least two of the cases.
The WECHU is also aware of two instances of Naloxone being administered by EMS in response to suspected opioid overdose over the same time period.
As heard on AM800 news last week, two separate alerts were issued by the WECHU after a combined 18 people attend the local ED.
