More fireworks in the Town of Essex.
OPP officers were called in after councillor Randy Voakes refused to leave a council meeting.
He was tossed out of the meeting by Mayor Ron McDermott.
Council was discussing potential retail marijuana shops in the municipality when disruption occurred.
Voakes called for a "point of order" after the mayor made comments about the smell of pot in Essex town centre.
After some back and forth, the mayor kicked Voakes out of the meeting and called for a recess.
When council resumed, McDermott said Voakes could stay if he issued an apology to council and the public.
Voakes did not and asked the mayor for an apology.
After some more back and forth, McDermott called for another recess and told the clerk to call police.
The OPP arrived a short time later and escorted Voakes out of the council chambers.
Monday's meeting was the second last meeting for this council.
The last meeting is set for November 19th.
