The Sandwich Town roundabout remains on track to open this week but that's not the end of an archeological dig.
The project was delayed after indigenous artifacts were discovered during construction.
Work in the roundabout itself is done but there's more digging to do elsewhere, according to City of Windsor engineer Mark Winterton. "We'll be working steadily in the spring to do the work on the boulevard. We have not completed all the archeological work, that was the main thing that slowed us down."
"The archeological work will continue next year," says Winterton. "There is work toward the Ambassador Bridge that still needs to be completed in the spring and that's something we'll be reviewing over the winter."
Winterton says they haven't put the final bill together but he estimates the delay has cost over $100,000.
