More lighting is being installed in downtown Windsor alleys.
In the first three phases, 30 lights have been installed so far in areas including Pelissier St. and Victoria Ave. from Wyandotte St. to Park St. and the alley behind the Pelissier Street Parking Garage.
The Chair of the Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association, Larry Horwitz says the next phase of the project includes the alley between the Capital Theatre and Phog Lounge.
"We had a lot of concerns in that area so we're coming to the table and we're going to put probably the most amount of lights, 12-14 lights in that area," says Horwitz.
He says the board decided it would spend whatever is necessary to make the city's alleys safer.

"We have to make downtown safe and secure for the businesses and residents, in order to attract and retain businesses in the downtown," says Horwitz.
The current lighting budget is about $40,000.
Horwitz hopes the lights send a message that downtown Windsor is not a place for criminals.
