An administrator with Windsor's Moose Lodge is looking to clear the air after the facility was forced to close.
Dan Batson says issues over missed rent are a misunderstanding and lawyers are currently working on a solution.
The building's owner, Panther Recycling President and CEO Mike Mosgrove, had the lodge locked Friday claiming to not have received a payment in 34 months.
Batson says Mosgrove is not the landlord.
"Panther Recycling Corporation hasn't been our landlord since 2015. What Mr. Mosgrove is doing is trying to put us out of business. Our lawyers are in contact with the actual landlord who is not Mr. Mosgrove."
Batson says he's confident they'll be able to reopen soon.
"We are not in breach of our lease. We're still in the legal issue and getting it straightened out with our original landlord and that's what we're in the process of doing right now. It's just an unfortunate situation."
He says he's not sure where Mosgrove is getting his information.
"Mr. Mosgrove hasn't been our landlord since 2015. I don't want to put the lodge in a bad situation because it's not. We are not. We are totally in compliance with our lease. What he is saying is totally wrong."
Batson says he hopes to have the lodge reopened in the very near future to avoid having to cancel any future events.
A notice placed on the front door of the building states Mosgrove is owed $263,500 in overdue rent.
The Moose Lodge is located at 777 Tecumseh Road West.
