A thank-you from the local Alzheimer Society.
The Society reached its goal during its CaregiverRx Matching Gift Campaign.
Manager of Community Engagement and Fund Development Peggy Winch says $25,000 was raised.
The local company Ground Effects Limited matched the $25,000, for a grand fundraising total of $50,000.
Winch says money raised will go towards local programs.
"It's going to help us deliver our current programs that we have which are supporting our families and those who have dementia throughout Windsor and Essex County," says Winch.
She says the support for those with dementia is badly needed.
"It is a disease that's not going away, services are needed for those family members, those caregivers are working 24/7 and our programs are able to support those families help them get a little bit of a break from their daily 24/7 job caring for those with dementia," says Winch.
The money will be used for local programs and services. The campaign ran from the beginning of April to the end of June.
More than 7,100 people in Windsor-Essex are living with dementia.
