More than 100 bags of food have been delivered to Bonduelle workers in Tecumseh.
They were dropped off last week by members of Tecumseh council and volunteers from the June 27 Miracle fundraiser.
Councillor Rick Tonial spearheaded the initiative and says they wanted to give back to the community.
"We asked Bonduelle if they were interested, they were, they have about 85 employees so we brought 100 hampers we call them, so basically it's like a week a groceries of varies products," says Tonial. "They were very appreciative to us."
He says he appreciates the work the employees at Bonduelle are doing.
“It felt like a great positive for our Town of Tecumseh to do to get over this COVID thing that's been happening, says Tonial. “All the negativity that's been happening, we needed something positive and I think this Miracle 27 was just what we needed.”
According to Tonial, it has not been easy for workers in the agri-food sector in Tecumseh.
"They're in a lot of fear I guess, the Jamaican workers that are working there, because they're coming from a country that there's hardly any COVID," says Tonial. "They're not wearing masks, they're not preventing because there's not much of it in their country."
In Tecumseh alone, more than 150,000 pounds of food was collected during the Miracle 27 fundraiser.
The fundraising event on June 27th saw over 2-million pounds of food donated in Windsor-Essex.
