A minor league baseball team in southwestern Ontario has decided to get rid of its Indians name and logo.
The Alvinston Indians will no longer support its name, saying the reason is to teach their players to respect other cultures.
The Alvinston Indians current logo is similar to Chief Wahoo of the Major League Baseball's team, the Cleveland Indians.
Cleveland has been under fire by many baseball fans calling their logo racist and insensitive to Native Americans.
Alvinston has used the Indians name for 60 years.
The team has started a crowdfunding campaign to raise money for the cost of replacement uniforms, equipment and ballpark signage.
The Team's Coach Dan Cumming says they are considering a variety of new names and logos, but a decision has not yet been made.
The association hopes to raise $29,000 to achieve their goal.
