Windsor-Essex is the second region in Ontario to receive designation to help businesses facilitate exports and create jobs.
On Monday, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Navdeep Bains announced, the area as a Foreign Trade Zone Point.
He says the designation will help promote Windsor-Essex as a hub for international trade with a goal of attracting new investors.
Speaking at Farrow Logistics in LaSalle, Bains says the program includes tax breaks for local companies.
"The idea is that they can really look into the different programs, CRA, the Canadian Border Service Agency, through the innovation, science, economic development office," says Bains. "There's so many opportunities and programs that exist and so this will provide businesses with a more streamline process. It's a one stop shop."
