It's been a busy few months at Windsor's 3-1-1 call centre.
Second quarter statistics have been released and they show the number one call generator is messy yards, usually grass and weeds that have grown too tall.
2,133 of those calls have come in, an increase of 249 over the same period in 2016.
Bylaw Enforcement Manager Bill Tetler says the mild winter has likely been a factor in the increase in calls. "The grass started growing a bit earlier than normal than past years. When we had the polar vortex in 2014, you know the grass didn't start growing until later in the year. This year with the warmer winter, grass started growing earlier, which encourages people to be outdoors more, which encourages people to see violations and call 3-1-1."
"The 3-1-1 service is key in the city being able to respond to complaints quickly," says Tetler. "It's our main source of communication. The public can text, email, phone in a complaint and within a couple of hours it makes it over to our computers and the officers in the streets are in their cars and out to the call."
The second biggest complaint was tree maintenance, with 1,441 calls, followed by questions about the waste collection calendar and inquiries about the Rodent Extermination Program.
