The 2017 Mastercard Memorial Cup has attracted media along with NHL representatives to the WFCU Centre.
Director of Communications for the Canadian Hockey League, Paul Krotz, says the CHL has issued about 150 credentials to media personnel and sold about 150 ticket packages to NHL teams. He says the event also attracts freelance reporters.
"In terms of total numbers we'd be looking at well over 100, maybe close 150 individuals that will probably be representing upwards of 50 different media outlets as I say many of which are from Windsor but we've had people travel from across Ontario, Quebec, the Maritimes, certainly following the Saint John Sea Dogs and even as far as Seattle," says Krotz.
He says the event has a fan following and a media following.
"There is outside interest," says Krotz. "We get people from the Greater Toronto Area which is certainly viewed as a major media hub. We've got people that have brought themselves here to Windsor to cover the event for it's duration and hopefully shine a spotlight on the community and this event it deserves.
The event has attracted the likes of Steve Yzerman, Mike Babcock, Marc Bergevin and Kevin Cheveldayoff.
