The Memorial Cup arrives tonight in Windsor.
The Canadian Hockey League championship trophy is making its way to Windsor on a naval ship from Sarnia.
Organizing Committee Chair John Savage says a large crowd is expected for the arrival. "We're hoping we will see thousands of people down. We're very encouraged by what we hear out there and because it's going to be a nice day, we're going to have a good size crowd down there."
The Memorial Cup opening banquet takes place today from 3:15pm until 6:15pm at St. Clair Centre For The Arts.
The guest speaker is former Ottawa 67's goaltender and current Toronto Maple Leafs broadcaster Jim Ralph.
Those in attendance will then head down to Dieppe Gardens for the arrival of the Memorial Cup.
From Dieppe Gardens, there's a procession along Riverside Dr., followed by a ceremony at the cenotaph at city hall.
AM800's Steve Bell will be be broadcasting live from the event.
