Family Services Windsor-Essex is teaming up with St. Clair College and the local Bilingual Legal Clinic.
The trio will be providing free community mediation to help individuals and families resolve conflicts and disputes.
Family Services Windsor-Essex Executive Director Joyce Zuk says the program has been in the works for 5 years and the volunteer mediators are members of the community who were trained in September.
"Some of the cases that would be handled by a paid mediator wouldn't be dealt with through our clinic," says Zuk. "Our clinic is a voluntary clinic. The decisions and the support of the mediators would not be binding on the two parties."
Zuk says the goal is the program is to help people resolve the situation through a safe, voluntary and mutually agreement process.
The program was officially launched on Tuesday.
