A Windsor mayoral candidate is looking to create a 'Community Livability Fund' to improve the quality of life for city residents.
Matt Marchand says the $50-million fund over 10 years would be used for items such as family-oriented affordable activities like parks and community centres.
As for where the money will come from in the city budget, Marchand says he will roll out his economic platform after labour day.
Marchand says an improved quality of life would also help to attract more jobs to the area as businesses want to locate in a city where employees can affordability raise a family.
"Business want a livable city for their employees," he says. "A place they can bring investors in an area where employees can comfortably live, work and raise a family."
He will be looking for public feedback on what the items should be included in the fund.
"Items focused on the community livability fund could include create and implement family oriented and affordable activities and opportunities in all areas of the city, opportunities for community centres in Fountainebleau, Old Sandwich Towne among others."
The fund would be created and implemented within the first 200 days of taking office.
Drew Dilkens, Frank Dyck, Tom Hensel, and Ernie Lamont are also running for the mayor's chair in Windsor.
The municipal vote is set for Oct. 22.
