Cirque du Soleil's 'Crystal' show has officially landed in Windsor.
Cirque is set to break new ground as 'Crystal' will be the production's first ever show on ice.
'Crystal' is here for seven shows beginning Wednesday night at the WFCU Centre.
Mayor Drew Dilkens hosted the show's creators at the Bright Lights festival at Jackson Park Tuesday.
Dilkens says it was a fitting back drop to welcome the world class show to the city.
"Cirque du Soleil performs all around the world and they're a first class show. They put on first class entertainment and to have them back in the City of Windsor, we're really happy that they're back. We're here at Bright Lights because it sort of fits into the theme of 'Crystal', outdoors, snow and a family friendly event."
Cirque du Soleil's Julie Desmarais says they've been performing in Windsor since 2011 and continue to come back because of the great crowds.
"Six years later, I'm super excited to return with a brand new show called 'Crystal'. It's our first ever ice experience."
She says performing on ice presents some new challenges.
"We conducted several workshops to see how we can bring our touch to ice, to this new playground which brings speed and elegance. We're very excited to be able to present it here in Windsor and kick off our 2018 tour."
Cirque du Soleil's 'Crystal' features 40 performers from 11 different countries.
It takes 17 semi-trucks to haul the equipment needed for the show.
'Crystal' runs from January 3 to 7 at the WFCU Centre.
