The former mayor of LaSalle wants his old job back.
Gary Baxter filed his nomination papers on Friday prior to the 2pm deadline.
Baxter was mayor from 2006 to 2010 but lost to current Mayor Ken Antaya.
He says his campaign will focus on a number of issues including taxes.
"The taxes here are certainly causing concern," says Baxter. "Level of service for seniors is becoming more of an issue out here now as the population reaches an older age. Maintenance of our infrastructure is concerning people."
Baxter adds to an extent he's been watching what happens around the council table in LaSalle.
"There seems to be a feeling that the council is losing touch with the community now," says Baxter. "Becoming less transparent in their actions and seems to be stockpiling power within the four walls as opposed to really sharing with the community on the plans and what they're doing."
Baxter is up against current Deputy Mayor Marc Bondy.
Mayor Ken Antaya is not seeking re-election.
The town will make its candidates list official for October's municipal election by 4pm on Monday.
