Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens has a plan to help address some of the concerns of taxi drivers regarding a level playing field in the industry.
Dilkens wants council to consider the option of adding more plates or removing the cap on the number of taxi licenses in the city.
Right now, there are 213 taxi licenses in the city and they are all taken.
Some city councillors believe opening the market would help to reduce the out-of-pocket expenses for drivers, who must pay fees to the plate holder for driving a cab.
Those fees can run as high as $7200 a year.
