Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens says outsourcing of city services is over for the next couple of years.
It follows a decision Monday night by Windsor City Council to outsource caretaking services at Huron Lodge.
The vote was 6-5 in favour.
"City council back in 2007 started a process called Service Delivery Review which was looking to deliver the most efficient and effective service that we can in all of our service areas so I don't anticipate any more outsourcing in the next couple of years," said Mayor Dilkens speaking on AM800's the Morning Drive.
He says caretaking services at Huron Lodge cost much higher than other facilities across the province.
"We have a great long term care service in Huron Lodge, we have a waiting list of 2 years to get in there and the fact is that we are the third highest provider, it costs us in terms of all the other providers in the province, we are third highest in terms of cost."
The change affects 16 full-time and 19 part-time workers at Huron Lodge which will save the city more than 600-thousand dollars every year.
