The money will be used for everything from laptops to afterschool programs.

The May Court Club of Windsor will be helping 18 local programs support children and youth.

A ceremony was held at the club's Wyandotte St. E. thrift store on Wednesday to officially announce $25,000 will be available for everything from laptops to afterschool programs.

"The various organizations will send in requests for various items and then at that point we'll donate the money to assist their programs and or different items that are needed by the children and the youth," says club president Elizabeth Strutt-MacLeod.

She tells AM800 News, members get a great deal of satisfaction giving back every year.

"We are very fortunate in what we have and to be able to give to others who don't have the means and the money to do it means a great deal to our community and to organization."

The entire thrift shop is staffed by volunteers and there's little overhead - being able to give back all the profits is something she says the whole organizations proud of.

The May Court Club of Windsor has been operating for more than 80-years.
