Windsor-West MP Brian Masse is keeping a close eye on gas prices.
He feels Canada's competition bureau needs to make sure price gouging isn't happening.
Masse says within the last two years the bureau caught retailers in Quebec price gouging and fines were issued.
He would like the bureau to set up a special unit to monitor gas prices and if retailers are caught, they need to be fined.
"The competition bureau is the perfect entity to do that and they have actually had some successful cases of showing gouging in regions mostly in Quebec so when Ottawa and parliament resumes this will be at the top of the order," says Masse.
The price at the pump varies across Windsor-Essex with the low at 99.9 and the high at 116.9.
Yesterday, one station in east-Windsor was at 121.9.
