The MP for Windsor West believes Canada needs to take a stronger stance against the U.S Trump administration.
It comes after U.S President Donald Trump's ban on visitors from seven muslim-majority countries sparked large rallies at several U.S airports.
Speaking on AM800's The Lynn Martin Show, Brian Masse says if Canada doesn't stand up to Trump, then who will.
He admits it is scary due to the consequences but he says at some point if you don't speak up, you become part of the problem. Masse says Canada needs to be cautious about the consequences.
"Canada's response to this has got to be really firm that a Canadian is a Canadian otherwise we are going to have continued chaos at the border which will affect business, trade, civil rights and liberties," says Masse.

Masse says the ban has caused a lot of confusion at the border which affects border cities like Windsor.
"I think Canada needs to be stronger in our position with the regards to the Trump administration," he says. "I think there is a number of things we have to be cautious about how that can come forward with policy and trade but the reality is that at some point in time, you become part of the problem by not speaking the truth."
Both the Conservatives and New Democrats are calling for debate on the impact of Trump's executive order on Canadians, and on immigration policies in general.
