Proposed improvements at the WFCU Centre have the support of at least one Windsor city councillor.
As AM800 News reported yesterday, several upgrades are needed in time for next year's Memorial Cup tournament.
Ward 8 city councillor Bill Marra agrees the work is necessary but he questions the timing of the report. "I would have anticipated a report of this nature to come forward when the bid was being contemplated because when you're contemplating these sport tourism initiatives you really want to have a handle on all the costs associated with anything that's required. The timing of these investments are necessary now because of the Memorial Cup and some other opportunities."
Improvements include an additional dressing room, enhanced Internet and electrical capacity, new rinkboards along with new glass and more room for media.
The request goes to Windsor city council next week.
