The Toronto Maple Leafs have shipped goaltender Garret Sparks to Vegas Golden Knights for forward David Clarkson and a fourth-round pick.
Clarkson's expected to be placed on long-term injured reserve for salary cap relief.
Clarkson's contract has come full-circle, however the former Leaf has not played since a career-ending injury in March 2016.
He's entering the final year of a seven-year, $36-million dollar U-S NHL contract he signed with Toronto in 2013. season.
Also, the Leafs have signed goaltender Michal Neuvirth to a professional tryout contract.
Neuvirth played in only seven games with the Philadelphia Flyers last season because of injuries, posting a 1-4-1 record with a .859 save percentage and a 4.27 goals-against average.
After moving Garret Sparks to the Vegas Golden Knights, Neuvirth is expected to battle Michael Hutchinson for the backup goalie job behind Frederik Andersen heading into training camp.
