Toronto scored early and often in a 72 win in New Jersey

John Tavares, Auston Matthews and Patrick Marleau scored in the opening 13-and-a-half minutes and the Maple Leafs went on to rout the Devils 7-2 in New Jersey Tuesday night in NHL action.

Nazem Kadri matched his career high with three assists, and red-hot Mitch Marner and Morgan Rielly added second period goals for Toronto.

Tyler Ennis scored two late goals to finish the Leafs' scoring.

Frederik Anderson made 27 saves in winning for the second time in his last five starts (2-2-1).

The Leafs improved to 13-5-1 on the road with the win.
