Kasperi Kapanen staked the Leafs to a 1-0 lead 27 seconds into the game and then scored in the first two minutes of overtime to lift Toronto 5-4 in overtime against the Detroit Red Wings at Scotiabank Arena.
Morgan Rielly and John Tavares each contributed a goal and an assist in the game.
In the last five games, a stretch in which the Leafs have won four and picked up a point for an overtime loss, Tavares has five goals and four assists and Rielly has three goals and six assists.
The WIngs had a 3-1 lead midway through the second, thanks to goals from Filip Hronek, Michael Rasmussen, and Christoffer Ehn.
Detroit has now lost six of their last seven NHL games and have 36 points on the season.
The Wings skate again Thursday in Pittsburgh.
