More information is expected Tuesday on mandatory masks for anyone working in or going to a commercial business in Windsor-Essex.
On Friday, the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit announced the measure as a "proactive move" to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and help the area get to Stage Two of Ontario's economic reopening plan.
Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Wajid Ahmed, points out that they are giving the public and commercial establishments advance notice, that way they have time to get any measures in place.
Speaking on AM800's The Morning Drive, Ahmed says this is just an extra step for people who are still not following physical distancing requirements during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"This would just help everyone, when everyone is wearing a mask. It's the greater good, that's the hope. We will release all the details tomorrow with a possible implementation date of Thursday or Friday," he says.
Details surrounding exemptions to the mask rule are also expected to be released.
