A Windsor man decided to go for polar dip on a chilly afternoon rather than speak to police over the weekend.
It happened around 12pm Saturday, according to Windsor Police Service.
Patrol officers were called to a home in the 1300 block of Riverside Dr. E. for a report of a man behaving erratically.
When officers arrived that erratic behaviour escalated — the man ran through Riverfront Park and kept on going straight into the Detroit River.
The man swam at least 50-ft into the frigid-water before police were able to convince him he wasn't in trouble and he needed to return to shore.
According to the report, the man was asked why he would jump into ice cold water rather than just speak to police.
The man replied, "I just smoked meth ... I kind of freaked out."
Police took the man to hospital for evaluation.
