A Windsor man who rushed into a burning house has been honoured by police.
At Tuesday night's Annual Exemplary Service Awards Banquet, Mazin Markos was given a Citizen Citation Award.
Markos is the man who rushed into a burning home on Balfour St. in October 2015 after a woman was screaming that her baby was inside.
In November 2017, Kenneth Kormendy was found guilty of three counts of attempted murder and sentenced to 11 years in prison.
Markos says as a cab driver, he just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
"I was dropping a customer at a house in the same block, which is across the street from the house that was on fire," he says. "A woman ran up to me screaming 'please help me, my baby is in the house.' "

Markos says he didn't have time to think, "I just had my bluetooth in my ear with my phone and I dialled 9-1-1, at the same time I was running into the house searching for the baby and anybody right there."
Other awards handed out at the event include 13 sworn officers being honoured for 30 years of service, five civilian members honoured for 20 years of service and two civilians for 30 years of service.
