Man arrested after armed robbery reported in downtown Windsor

Arrest made following an armed robbery in downtown Windsor.

The Major Crimes Unit began investigating Monday Mar. 30, after determining the day prior, a suspect was inside a residence in the 30 block of Tuscarora Street when he was asked to leave.

Police say the suspect then brandished a knife and demanded the occupant’s wallet.

The victim was then allegedly forced by the suspect to go to a nearby ATM to withdraw additional cash and threatened retaliation if police were contacted.

A suspect was identified following a review of surveillance video.

A 20-year-old man was located and arrested in the area of Erie Street East and Goyeau Street later in the day on Monday.

He has been charged with robbery, extortion, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
