There's no better way to celebrate the opening of a 'made in Canada' souvenir shop than on the country's birthday.
Whiskeyjack Boutique had a soft opening at its new location on Maiden Ln. in downtown Windsor back in May but held its official grand opening on Canada Day.
Monday was a fitting day to hold an opening for Canadian and locally sourced products, according to co-owner Katie Stokes.
She tells AM800 News the community has been supportive of the shop so far.
"We've been having a blast down here. We've met all our neighbours, everybody's so fantastic and welcoming and really excited about us being here as well," says Stokes. "It's been really great."
She hopes the shop will help draw more businesses back downtown.
"There is potential down here. There's a community of business owners and residents that are cheering us on and they want to support us, so we're hoping to be a stepping stone for others to make the decision to open as well," Stokes added.
The store is located on Maiden Ln. between Ouellette Ave. and Pelissier St.
