Plan ahead. That's the message from the Community Leader of MADD Windsor-Essex.
Chaouki Hamka says with the holidays fast approaching, those impaired by drugs or alcohol need to have a plan in place. He says call a cab, sleep out or have a designated driver.
Hamka says the message is simple.
"I think that's the most important thing anybody can do before they start their festivities and their partying," says Hamka. "It's always good to know how you're getting home, who's going to pick you up, what cab companies are available, what friends, family are available to pick you up who are sober."
This year's theme for the Red Ribbon Campaign is "Choose your Ride." There are 1500 fatal impaired driving crashes in Canada every year. It is the leading cause of 'criminal deaths' in Canada.
