The Windsor Spitfires have named their captain and assistant captains to lead the way for the upcoming season.
Fourth-year forward Luke Boka will wear the C.
The 19-year-old Plymouth, Michigan native played all three of his previous seasons with the
Spits.
He had 40 points in 64 games last year.
"I don't think anything really changes too much," he says. "I approach everyday the same and it is with my head down and I try to work hard and keep my mouth shut."
Cole Purboo and Chris Playfair have been named the assistant captains.
Playfair says it is about setting the example in hockey and life.
"I think on and off the ice, I just handle myself the same way, treat everybody with respect and I think it is all about being a good person and respecting your teammates, respecting your coaches and respecting the game."
Purboo says with a younger team, he plans to step up his leadership game.
"A lot of guys are going to learn a lot this year from us, definitely through watching and we are not going to be looking down on any players. We are going to be there for them. I think we are all really nice guys and it is not like they are going to be afraid of us, we are all really good buddies in the room," says Purboo.
The Spits open the regular season at home on Thursday, September 20 against Guelph.
