When it comes to retail cannabis stores in Essex, there isn't much concern, it seems.
Only a handful of residents turned out at a public information meeting Tuesday night at the Harrow Community Centre to let residents have their say on where they would like the retail shops.
Council voted in January in favour of opting-in to allow retail cannabis shops in the town.
Mayor Larry Snively says it's still early in the progress but ever since the town decided to opt-in, he hasn't heard much from residents.
"I'm hearing the public are all in favour of a retail store in our town and in the Essex area too," says Snively .
Former town councillor Bill Baker attended the public meeting, saying he's in favour of the town having a marijuana retail shop.
He also likes how the town is engaging the public in the process.
"It's a legal entity and I still think yes we need to be in that game," says Baker. "Again how do you place it? It's just like any other planning, let's plan properly for now so the future doesn't give us a bad course and I think we've seen that in many municipalities."
A second public open house will take place Tuesday, March 12 from 6pm until 8pm at the Essex Centre Sports Complex.
