The University of Windsor men's hockey team has added two former Spitfires to its coaching staff.
Eric Wellwood and Mark Ridout will join Kevin Hamlin's staff for the upcoming season.
The pair will replace former assistants Justin Solcz and Kyle Makaric who each moved on to new positions with Jr. B clubs in the region.
Wellwood, a native of Oldcastle, most recently served as an associate coach with the Flint Firebirds in the Ontario Hockey League for the 2016-17 season.
Eric also spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the OHL's Oshawa Generals.
As a player, Wellwood was a member of the Spitfires' back-to-back Memorial Cup championship teams in 2009 and 2010 as well as the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers.
Ridout joined the Lancers this past season as a coaching assistant and will transition to a larger role behind the bench in 2018-19.
The Windsor native played four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Windsor Spitfires, Plymouth Whalers and Mississauga Ice Dogs.
