A longtime critic of the Ambassador Bridge and vocal Sandwich resident is disappointed Canada has issued a permit for a replacement span.
Mary Ann Cuderman has lived in the Sandwich area for close to 20 years and feels betrayed by the move.
She says there will clearly be a negative impact from the decision particularly businesses in the west end.
Cuderman says the additional footprint of the expanded bridge will make access difficult for existing residents because there will be a boundary on the south as well as the east.
She says the Marouns have apparently stickhandled this permit past all governments:
"it's a real shame that one person that has billions of dollars can control both countries the way he can control this" says Cudderman, "I still support the new Gordie Howe Bridge fully"
Cuderman has been speaking out for years against any new construction by the Ambassador Bridge.
