A local researcher has been honoured for her work and study of brain tumours.
Dr. Lisa Porter, professor of Biological Sciences at the University of Windsor, is the recipient of the 2018 David Kelly Award.
The award is given every year to an individual who supports the brain tumour community in Canada.
Porter received the honour at the 2018 Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada National Conference October 19.
Her research lab focuses on the study of cancer-related proteins and their role in the development of tumours.
"Patients and caregivers motivate us to keep pushing research forward and are often actively engaged in specific research projects," says Porter.
Dean of Science Chris Houser says Porter's dedication and passion continue to be a positive influence on both the faculty and University of Windsor.
