The cancellation of several flights has caught a local travel agent off guard.
Sarah Hupalo is owner of Goligers Travel Plus on Howard Avenue.
She says she was surprised to hear a number of flights were cancelled out of Toronto's Pearson Airport.
As heard on AM800 News on Friday, runway construction at Pearson, along with the weather, caused some headaches for travellers as flights in and out of Windsor were cancelled.
Hupalo says she found out about the cancellations after hearing from some clients.
"Some of our passengers that were going from Windsor to overseas connecting through Toronto airport were cancelled. The flights from Windsor to Toronto were cancelled and nobody knew about it. We didn't know about it as travel agents, clients were notified, so it was quite a shock."
She says when the cancellations occur, the agents usually hear from the airlines.
"Sometimes we get messages. We'll get notifications or there may be something in the news or the customer may have been notified directly, but this was a very sudden and we had no idea."
The cancellations have impacted a number of airlines including Air Canada.
Porter Airlines has not been affected.
